New Club Time!!!

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

This past weekend, Hot Rod Hounds took a chance and for one race put our best four paws forward. Completely green Bindy with only, literally, a couple races under her collar she started the team off right followed by Shiner, Bea and anchored by Mayday, who was trying to run down the other team’s anchor dog. Even with two 14+ foot passes and one 3 foot pass the dogs managed to pull off 19.518. This is the the fastest time for any team running under the Hot Rod Hounds club name by approximately .2 seconds. Will we see 18 on the timing display soon?

Let Freedom Run VIII Tournament

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Wow what weekend Hot Rod Hounds had!!!

Friday saw Tomba, Shiner, Riley, Sizzle, Mayday, and Zila taking the lanes. The dogs ran their hearts out taking FIRST place in the Regular III division. Not only did they take FIRST, they did it by over twenty tournament points. Quite a feat considering most often divisions are won by a point or two.

Hot Rod Hounds had an equally impressive showing Sat/Sun. Tomba, Shiner, Riley, Sizzle, Simba, and Bea took FIRST in the Regular V division by almost as many tournament points. The team got off to a slow start Saturday, but got it together and stepped on the gas. When the competition was falling apart, Hot Rod Hounds ran better and stronger.

Shiner, Mayday, and Bea ran with Texas All Star Express Saturday and Sunday. Shiner helped the TAE Red Team earn first place in the Open III division. Mayday and Bea were instrumental in helping TAE’s green dogs get some needed experience and earn their first titles. Running on the TAE white team they came away with fifth place.

Congratulations to Sizzle and Riley for earning their Flyball Master (5,000 points) title, Tomba on earning her Flyball Dog Champion Gold (2,500 points) title, and to Simba for earning his Flyball Dog Champion Silver (1,000 points) title.

Tune Up to Reliant

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Wow what a weekend we had!  This was our first tournament to host on our own and it went of without a hitch. The team really pulled together and made it happen. We received tons of compliments on the tournament, the raffle, and our prizes!

Hot Rods Hounds also had a great weekend in the lanes. Even with hosting the tournament we were able to place first in the Regular IV division. All the dogs ran their hearts out.

Congrats to Tomba on her new best time of 5.1 and Zila on earning her first title.

Our next adventure will be the Let Freedom Run tournament held during the Reliant World Series of Dogs show. This is the big one of the year in Region 5.

Spring Fling III

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

This was our first tournament in a long while that we ran on our own. Wow what a weekend! Hot Rod Hounds took First Place in their division both Saturday and Sunday! All the dogs (and people) did awesome. We had great support from Chloe and James, box loading for the first time, and from our newest members Randy and Casey. Randy helped where ever needed and Casey was a ball shagging machine. I think she was shagging for 04 teams at one point.

Tomba and Mayday both earned their Flyball Dog Champion Silver titles (1,000 points).

Way to go team!

Paws in the Park Demo

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

The Hot Rod Hounds had a great time in Pearland at Paws in the Park. Once again kids vs dogs was a big hit. Most all the dogs got into the act and did awesome. We even had two on two racing.

Mayday, Dutch, and Zila took a break from flyball to take part in other activities. Mayday and Zila tried out the Lure Coursing and had a blast. Both dogs did really well and even though Mayday stopped to have his picture taken he did finish the course. Dutch gave a go at Dock Diving. As much as he loves the water (can’t get him out) he needed some encouragement to jump. All in all he did awesome.

It was great weekend at a great event for a great cause.
